Governance
Governance
The Governing Body sets the ethos and vision for Settle College and ensures that they are reflected in the improvement plans and day-to-day running of the College.
Every three years, the Governors review the Vision which can be found here Strategic Vision. Between these reviews, every July the Governors look at how well the College is doing to meet the Vision and we set priorities for the coming year that build upon our strengths or address any weaknesses.
During the academic year, the Governors meet twice a term to hear about progress within the College and any significant issues are monitored until they are resolved. Where issues are not resolved by the year-end they are added to the next year's improvement plan.
As well as the twice termly meetings, Governors are each assigned to different aspects of College life and will visit to meet the relevant staff and carry out more in-depth reviews.
Finally, the Chair of Governors meets the Headteacher every two weeks to catch up on what's happening.

Risk Management
The Governing Body is aware of the importance of knowing what risks the College faces both long term and in day-to-day operations.
Longer term risks are reviewed during the three-yearly review of our Vision and, where feasible, steps are taken to either avoid those risks coming about or be prepared if they should actually happen.
Risks in day-to-day operations are managed by the Headteacher and his team. The normal insurances are taken out to cover many of those risks and a register of Health and Safety risks is kept.
Perhaps the most important risk, that of keeping our students safe is the responsibility of our Safeguarding team and you can read about their work here Safeguarding
