Settle College is thrilled to announce its GCSE results for Summer 2024, marking yet another year of academic excellence and student achievement. The results reflect the hard work, dedication, and resilience of our students, supported by an exceptional team of staff who have gone above and beyond to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed.

This year’s GCSE cohort has produced some significant achievements, with a number of students achieving top grades across a wide range of subjects.

Mr. Gareth Whitaker, Headteacher of Settle College, expressed his pride in the students' accomplishments:

"These results are a testament to the determination and hard work of our students, who have shown incredible perseverance throughout their studies. I am immensely proud of each and every one of them. These achievements also reflect the commitment of our outstanding staff, who have supported, encouraged, and challenged our students to reach their full potential." Mr. Whitaker also acknowledged the importance of a holistic approach to education, highlighting the range of extracurricular activities and pastoral support provided at Settle College: "At Settle College, we believe in nurturing well-rounded individuals. Our students are not only academically successful but also excel in sports, the arts, and community service as seen through our Settle College Diploma. This year’s results demonstrate that our students can achieve excellence while still engaging in a wide array of activities that prepare them for the future."

Among the high achievers this year, many students have set new personal records, securing multiple Grade 9s. These top-performing students have expressed their delight and gratitude for the support they received throughout their time at Settle College.

One student, Edward Whaley, commented: “I’m really pleased with my results! I would like to thank the support of my teachers and family. I’m excited to take the next step in my education and build on what I’ve learned at Settle College, going on to study biology, maths and geography at Settle College Sixth Form.”

Another student, Alna Sinu who excelled across the board, added: “The teachers at Settle College have been amazing. They’ve really helped me to develop, and I’m now looking forward to studying A-levels in maths, chemistry, biology and English.”

Robert Watmough having just finished year 11 and picking up his results was so pleased with his outcomes, commenting “they are better results than I could ever imagined”. He is going on to study on a two-year course at Craven College in media.

Rosie Pettit was simply amazed at her grade 9 in English language, not a subject she is going on to study at A level, but very happy with her overall results. She is continuing at Settle College, studying chemistry, biology and geography.

Settle College is proud of the diverse range of pathways its students will embark on following their GCSE success. Many will continue their education at Settle College’s Sixth Form, which offers a wide selection of A-level courses, CTECs and BTECs, while others will be pursuing other vocational qualifications or apprenticeships elsewhere.

Mr. Whitaker concluded by emphasising the supportive community that underpins the College’s success: "We are incredibly fortunate to have such a supportive community of parents, governors, and local stakeholders who believe in the value of education and contribute to the success of our students. As we celebrate today’s results, we are also looking forward to the bright futures that await our students as they continue their educational journey.”

Settle College extends its warmest congratulations to all the students on their remarkable achievements and wishes them every success in their future endeavours. The school remains committed to fostering a culture of excellence, where every student is encouraged to aim high and be the best they can be.
